INITIAL
CONSULTATION AND EVALUATION
Since infertility can develop as a result of both male and/or
female problems, our comprehensive evaluation includes a personalized
and in-depth consultation between the couple and our physicians.
At this time, the physician will review the woman’s medical
history, previous treatments and examinations, hormonal assessments,
and other fertility testing. A complete semen analysis may be
performed as part of the man’s evaluation and a hysterosalpingogram
may be recommended for the woman to investigate the possibility
of uterine and fallopian tube abnormalities. Based on these initial
findings, a plan for fertility investigation will be discussed
and initiated with the couple.
Important! New patients need to provide all pertinent medical records
and HSG X-rays to our office prior to their initial consultation.

COMPREHENSIVE
FERTILITY TESTING
Comprehensive fertility testing is available in our Center which
includes a fully licensed and CLIA certified andrology laboratory
for semen and sperm studies. Testing is individualized for each
patient and may include:
- Semen analysis with strict morphology studies
- Hormonal evaluations
- Ovarian reserve testing
- Hysterosalpingograms
- Hysterosonograms
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Endometrial biopsies
Nearly 40% of infertility problems result from a male factor.
Many of these factors can be treated and overcome. If required,
our physicians work closely with urologists who specialize in
male infertility if further investigation and treatment is required.

OVULATION
INDUCTION AND SUPEROVULATION
To help increase the opportunity for conception, the use of oral
or injectable medications may be recommended to stimulate the
ovaries to produce and release mature eggs. This is a common
treatment for women with unexplained infertility. For women who
do not ovulate on their own, medications are prescribed to induce
ovulation so that conception can occur with either timed intercourse
or artificial insemination (IUI).
All ultrasound monitoring occurs at our Center and is completed
by our Reproductive Endocrinologists who specialize and are extensively
trained and experienced in ultrasound techniques and interpretations.

ANDROLOGY
LABORATORY SERVICES
Our licensed and CLIA certified andrology laboratory is staffed
by two andrologists who are specially trained and credentialed
to assess all parameters of sperm and semen. In addition to providing
comprehensive sperm testing, our Center’s andrology laboratory
provides superior methods for evaluating sperm for analysis and
processing or “washing” sperm for intrauterine inseminations
(IUIs). It is these specialized methods which contribute to higher
fertility success rates from inseminations.
Services performed by our Andrology Laboratory include:
- Semen Analysis
- Semen Culture
- Sperm Washing
- Cryopreservation (sperm freezing)
Our laboratory is equipped to maintain the short term storage
of “donor” semen specimens for donor insemination
services.
The Center’s “collection” room was specifically
designed to offer our male patients privacy, comfort, and convenience
for producing semen specimens. Appointments can be made from
7:30 am onward to help accommodate working schedules.

ASSISTED
REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES (ART)
Beginning with the birth of the first IVF baby in 1978, ART has
opened the doors for many women who could not conceive. The development
of ART in recent years has become a foundation for highly successful
fertility treatments and has resulted in tens of thousands of
babies being born.
Our physicians’ relationship with the New York University
School of Medicine’s IVF Program gives our patients access
to world class ART services including:
- IVF – In Vitro Fertilization
- ICSI – Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection
- Assisted Hatching
- Blastocyst Culturing
- Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)
- Embryo Cryopreservation
- Donor
Oocyte (Egg) Services
-Oocyte Cryopreservation (Egg Freezing) Services
All IVF monitoring, inclusive of all blood and ultrasound monitoring
as well as physician management, of the IVF cycle takes place
at the Greenwich Fertility and IVF Center for our patient’s
convenience as well as continuity of care. Only two trips to
NYU’s Manhattan office will be required, one on the day
of the egg retrieval and the other on the day of the embryo transfer.
Working closely as a team with our physicians, NYU’s medical
and embryology staff are experts in these specialized ART laboratory
techniques. The embryologists are responsible for the preparation
and fertilization of sperm and eggs in the laboratory and for
the development of these embryos until it is time to transfer
them back into the uterus. Once our patients receive their embryo
transfer at NYU, they return back to the Greenwich Fertility
Center for monitoring, pregnancy test, and any other required
medical services.
We believe the combination of the convenience, comfort, and personalized
services our IVF patients receive from the Greenwich Fertility
and IVF Center along with the expertise and success rates of
the NYU physicians ART services, are a winning combination for
our patients.

SURGICAL
SERVICES
Surgical procedures may be performed as a treatment for infertility
and may reduce or eliminate the need for assisted reproductive
technologies (ART). Our physicians have years of experience in
reproductive surgical techniques used to treat fallopian tube
obstructions, pelvic adhesions, endometriosis, fibroids, and
uterine anomalies. Operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy can
often correct some of these related problems of infertility.

PATIENT
EDUCATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES
Our nursing and medical staff works closely with each patient
to help the patient or couple best understand their fertility
options and treatments. Patients are supplied with written educational
materials necessary to answer all of their questions and to ensure
that partners maintain a complete understanding and comfort level
with the treatments. Comprehensive IVF teaching sessions are
held for patients undergoing in vitro fertilization and all patients
have access to our fertility lending library.
Achieving a pregnancy may have significant emotional impact on
a couple. Since emotional health is just as important as physical
health, supportive counseling services are available to the couple
as well. All counseling sessions are conducted in a discreet
and confidential manner.
Our program has teamed with Greenwich Hospital's Healthy Living
Center and Integrative Medicine programs to make available to
our patients a series of stress reducing Mind/Body services.
These services include therapeutic massage, yoga, acupuncture,
nutritional counseling, and "Priming for Pregnancy," a
mind body series of relaxation classes to enhance fertility.

PATIENT
FINANCIAL SERVICES
Our Center provides a dedicated financial counselor to assist
the patient in understanding program fees and financial responsibility
once the patient decides upon fertility treatment. It is very
important that patients fully understand and research their insurance
coverage prior to receiving any treatments. Although we may participate
in a patient’s insurance plan, coverage varies greatly
and the patient must understand for what fertility and/or IVF
services he/she is covered. It is our policy to accept payment
for all out of network, uncovered or excluded services at time
of treatment.
Our financial counselor can be reached at (203) 863-2990 and
is available to review fees and provide information and assistance
whenever possible. Although it is ultimately the patient’s
responsibility to understand his/her insurance coverage, we would
be happy to call the insurance company to help the patient understand
his/her coverage and responsibilities.
We are happy to provide assistance to our patients in obtaining
any pre-authorizations for services they may require.
Please let us know how we can help you better understand your
insurance benefits. We understand that it can get very complicated.
